Most search engines have some form of pay per click program where your ads will show up on sites that participate in the program and have websites related to the content of your ad based on the keywords you select for your ad campaign.                             Traffic from Backlinks A very important method of getting traffic to your site is by getting backlinks from other websites related to the content on your website. Each backlink is counted like a vote for your site as far as the search engines are concerned. Not all "votes" are counted equally. The higher the site that links to you, the more valuable the vote. The more backlinks you can get to your site, the better.
